Abstract

In May 2024 there was year on year (y-on-y) inflation in East Nusa Tenggara Province of 2.41 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.93. The highest inflation occurred in Kupang City at 2.81 percent with a CPI of 105.81 and the lowest occurred in South Central Timor District at 1.55 percent with a CPI of 105.98.

Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverage and tobacco group by 3.70 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.62 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.09 percent; household supplies, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 0.01 percent; health group by 0.74 percent; transportation group by 3.74 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.34 percent; education group by 0.12 percent; food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 4.09 percent; and personal care and other services group by 5.00 percent. While the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in the index, namely: the information, communication and financial services group by 0.69 percent.

There was month to month (m-to-m) deflation in East Nusa Tenggara Province for the May 2024 period of 0.24 percent. Meanwhile, the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate of East Nusa Tenggara Province in May 2024 was 0.74 percent.
